Maybe I'd start going to my show receptions if there was tacos or pizza at the end of the stick. I need incentives. Critique and rubbing dry elbows does not entice. Needless to say I did not attend because I'm a jerk. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Maybe you didn't either and in that case I'm NOT sorry. Thankfully Rhinomilk via Arrested Motion did a little show coverage, click the image to link on over.

There's some stuff they didn't witness. Liiiiike El Tacobike showed up later that night- I really really need to finish up that bike. And there was a piece missing that night because I ran out of gas (not literally). But it's up now in the gallery and pictured below. Cool. Well, its up until the 9th of December. Thanks to all those that showed they face and made my Mom and Tia's night. Congratulations niño Clay! That's what my Mom and I call him. I love this guy. 23 yrs old, The youngest Cy Young recipient since Dwight Gooden. He's amazing! He racked up a bunch of mantel pieces- Gold Glove, Warren Spahn recipient among other recognitions. If you look above his head I drew in three little crowns. :)

Prints are the way to go. There's no sobbing goodbyes with the original or in this case an empty feeling of the piece being just an imaginary pile of pixels saved onto my desktop. Why don't I make prints of everything?! I dunno. But thanks to some insistent ladies out in Kentucky I finally had some made. Both of these were a limited run of 10. I've got about 4-5 left of each. As with everything in my life, each is uniquely glittered. Signed and numbered as well.

I want to live on this youtube channel forever! Fortunately there is countless heaps of awesome, more than even my vapid no-life of leisure allows me to get through. Still, I only nibble and lick off all it's recognizable features and wrap it right back up in it's gold foil. I must make this hollow chocolate bunny last. Like when I re-watch the sole season of Freaks and Geeks unhurried and in moderation because once Daniel gets all gutter punk on us it's a fasttrack of hermaphrodites, dwarves and disco. Then what? High and dry. High and dry.

Just had a birthday. I had a small affair inspired by the party Stella (from the movie by the same name) threw for her daughter Jenny and by the colors pink and yellow, pink and yellow. Here's some shots from what I learned is called a "table scape" and my other decorations. Pan to a week later and I'm still kicking my way through balloons on the floor and I've done the minimal to restore things back to order. Can I leave it year round you think?

They chose this piece for the print. Took some horrible crap pictures from the touch but you get an idea for the size.

If this is all new to you, you're still living off the grid (faceplace). Made some more commerating "Zerts." This time for my big brother's birthday. The logo and shark fins are made of fondant. Went with the og sexier logo here. Ugghhhhh, there should have never been a game 7 but whatever whatever.

Went to LA to get my Fernandomania blanket. People think i'm joking but it really will be my child's recieving blanket. My intentions were to get this westsiiiiide Dodgers foam finger but I couldn't find the bootleggers. Are you in the LA area? ¿Me lo compras?

It was our first time sitting out in the left field pavilion. We even made it on to Dodgerfilms. :)

I send in onnne little image to one of my favorite Dodger blogs Vin Scully is my homeboy and all of a suuudden I'm accused of trolling forums and posting on message boards. I've never even thought of what user name I would have (EtchohuaquilaPark78) or nothing. But I am always thinking up dumb retorts and smack to talk (back) that are best expressed through my photoshop skills. Usually they stay in my brain, this one actually made it to out. It was well received.... bad news. That is all the encourgement I need to continue on my 2011 campaign to further pollute the interwebs with horrible hackneyed animated gifs & "shops." Some folks (three) found it offensive, having anticipated this con-TRA-ver-sy I made a radio friendly edit.

I still think the original version is more impactful and in the tradition of parking lot bootlegs I'm accustomed to. I'm from the school of Calvin Hobbs pissing, little English hooligan kid flippin the bird and overall placing a prefix/suffix of the suck or f*ck variety next to whatever team we're up against. It's comforting to me. But I understand. Like I wouldn't send my Dad the first one, but maybe the second one.

This is just a reminder. Giants fans have always been stank, and that was before they even won ANYTHING. So you can only imagine now. FOH with your banner flying over our stadium.

Made these corn dog cake pops for my best friend's (girl- childhood to ∞ category) birthday. She loves corn dogs and is a corn dog. These are "inside peanut butter outside jellllly" no they're not. I just wanted to quote Cadillac Don. They're actually chocolate innards, peanut butter shell with vanilla yellow candy melt "squiggle".

I also made her some sugah Wu-kies from my own cookie cutter.

   Anytime someone sends word of POSITIVE response, request or mention of my work...I NEVER buy it. It's not even put-on humility just an innate refusal to swallow any and all favorable reception. I chalk it up to being brown. That is to say Mexican. NOOW, if you call me up and tell me Lencha said something stank- like my paintings are so goth right now- instinctively, no matter the sources' credibility or how far removed from first hand witness they may be...I'll believe that shit. DONE. Lencha is dead in my eyes, keep it moving.

   It's a HORRIBLE way to live. You just can't shake that type of cultural conditioning. It's the same hardwiring responsible for thinking there is anything legitimately precautionary about reaching across the passengers chest upon stopping short at a red light. The same irresponsibility that allows me to believe I can prevent bells palsy by not eating dinner in front of an oscillating fan. You can't counteract a cramp by taking your saliva soaked finger and imprinting a cross on the sole of your foot (yeah- it worked because you just stretched it out trying to get to the bottom of your foot, you don't see that Mom? ) Furthermore, I'll just say it now, the sign of the cross is the nucleus of my OCD. It's my go to move for an infinite number of ordinary events throughout the day. Like, I'm not only doing it when I pass a church but when I see/hear an ambulance/firetruck, if I'm on the tail end of a red light, at the start of the defensive inning/possession and in attempts to alter the results of a televised rigged singing/dancing competition(s). It's crazy witchery that science has yet to disprove so gueessss whhaaat future Mitsy's babies, dems your whack beliefs too.

Oh yeah...so I was alert texted of my cameo in a short documentary about the probably thee best producer of all time, you know I thought I was being put on. Several interrogating texts later my interest was piqued enough to google search. Then, sure enough 7 minutes into the short MY commerative Dilla flashes before you. Couple seconds later, art work by "MISTY" Avila Ovalles confirms...you aint all that. And that's why browns always wait for the shoe to drop.

HERE!! Because unless you're a fan of J Dilla (which should pretty much be all of you directly or indirectly) you WON'T sit through this. Eventhoouuggh you sit through hella paternity test results and subsequent sprints backstage at 10am and 1pm pacific ery day.

I don't want to jinx it but it's only valentine's day and I've already doubled the number of shows I had in allllll of 2010. Hooow saad. :) I crashed the "Bittersweet" show over at Cukui with my very romantic "When a Macho Man loves a Woman" piece. If you think about it, it's very fitting that they would be in a bittersweet context seeing as they had a tumultuous relationship prior to Miss Elizabeth hitting the pipe alongside Lex Luger. I've also become a Randy "Macho Man" Savage expert by now. Not like to the level where I can rap along to his album but still. Did you know he was a baseball player? He never made it to the bigs but was in the Reds, Cards and Whitesox farm systems.

Here's the piece. Through the process. These were taken with my touch. I'll snap a better one when I get it back. That battery down there is a AA. For scale to show what a diiick that championship belt was and my tinsie three eyelash brush used to paint it. The shorts and fringe on the piece are embroidered.

I don't know these people but they get it. :)

This show opens up today. CHICk it out. That was horrible, I apologize. Special thanks to Raquel De Anda- if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have any shows at all. :) Can I just say, I never learn. Bad move leaving to Mexico for 2 1/2 weeks the month before the show. Bad move having a bubble girl immune system and being sick for all the days of 2011. BUT I got things done despite being on the cold & cough merry-go-round. It's slowed down some but has not come to a complete stop.

Coinciding with this show was a series of poster ADS located on the platforms of BART stations everywhere. My poster is of one of my digital drawings per request of Raquel. We didn't end up printing this up or the other two I worked on for the actual show. I'm thinking maybe I'll put them up on zazzle or on here.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me TWELVE East Side Story L Peeeeeees. The photographs on these are so rad and the albums have the original tracks! Copyright laws are for the birds. DO NOT give me permission (have them shipped) to open gifts before Christmas because I can't NOT open them.

I also received the May 18, 1981 issue of Sports Illustrated with "Rookie Sensation" cover boy Fernando Valenzuela. I have this weird Larry David "bathroom contamination" fear about magazines. Luckily it came in a plastic sleeve- it's in really good condition for a nearly 30 year old mag.

That's it. I'm accosting Fernando next time LA is in town. I will hug him, stare directly into his upward gaze (yes I will request he simulate his signature wind up) get his autograph and add it to my Wall O' Spiritual leaders/mentors/inspiring people. Currently only my prized "Dee" from What's Happening autograph (with personalized "To Mitsy 'ooooo, I'm telling Mama!' message) hangs there. I wish I knew where my Mobb Deep autograph was.

Annnnddd this is my Dad side to side with his subjective double Chico Che. There was a time when he was a little rounder, crowned with more pepper than salt, wore aviator shades and thinned out the stache a little but never fully committed to the look as to don the overalls.

I'm draggin' on the making of actual products but I finally have SOMETHING up. I get like 3 cents for every item I sell, so buy plenty and often. That way I can use my entire royalty check on buying my own items. :) If peddling my own images don't get me paid you know I have some ideas for ironic tshirts in my back pocket. Tim Lincecum's anorexic Rachel Zoe chipmunk jowls, mangled fangs and sexual ambiguity read godmother of punk, Patti Smith to me. While Brian Wilson's brush-in-gel jet black beard, baby blues, eccentric accessorizing and entrance music "Pomp and Circumstance" say Macho Man. Viral Dodson should have warned Volquez to hide his change-up, hide his fastball because the Phillies rapin' everyone out here. I always saw Matt Cain as Digger from Shirt Tales but he also makes a pretty Natalie Green.

Last blog entry June 21st? How'd that happen? I'll tell you how. The Dodgers season sucked donkey, that's how. "Real talk" though, faceplace is a blog killer- I can easily share , upload, like and poke with little set up and wordage. You know I'm lazy. But I'll try to remember there are TV onlys that don't get the faceplace live feed and are not clued in to all the failbooking I do over there.

I'll have my embroideries up in Galeria's 40th anniversary show starting this friday. It's a real honor.

I don't get it, I had a better quality image to work with this time but you wouldn't know it. They didn't even have the rip away "santario" calendar or a hole punch. So to recap, the calendar is of questionable design and quality. But really it's the brand you're paying for. :)

I was on deadline for the last couple of weeks so I missed a proper halloween, post. Here's a recent drawing that would have been relevant and in the spirit of. I'm the cabbage patch kid with the homemade yarn wig and the rest are the monstros I grew up with. My cousin Danny (hueso) costume: unknown, my brother Mario (Chencho) costume: claims he's Skeletor, and my cousin Manuel (Little) costume: old simplicity pattern krumping clown costume no one escaped. You can make out the collage part a little better here.

The boys came over the day after and I forced them to not only recreate Halloween for me but to engage in reverse trick-or-treat. Victor said he was ninja Punisher. Marco was an uprocking Mike Jones or Mike Singletary?

A few months ago, Will of The Mumlers asked that I draw up something for their sophomore release, Don't Throw Me Away. (Which is out everywhere TODAY, yall.) Now, I was hesitant because that shit never works out. There's far too many people to please and I have far too many insecurities about my own ability to have others call it into question. I always feel too sucky for big projects...shows-residencies-commissions-murals-tattoo sketches-grad school-marriage. You can't lose if you don't try- aim low. (Now you know, if I've ever passed on something, it's usually me not you.) Now, that they actually got me to commit (HUGE) in the first place is pure circumstance. No knock on the Mumlers, because I love their music, but I DID just happen to get on board around the new year- a susceptible time of reflection and over ambitious pinky swears of change.

I was crazy obsessed and whiny through it all. Luckily there were folks around buttressing my sunken shoulders through the whole process. Feedback from the band/ label helped as did Ramo telling me to think all bad cause everyone else does. (: Thanks guys. I also figured this is right in line with my dream to leave a legacy of merchandise tucked away under glass cabinets in my basement like ex-pro wrestlers. Finally I'll have something other than digital files to remember my originals by.

I did all the text & innards by hand, and the layout.

They also used one of my woodburned pieces for the pink 7in single. Here's the video for that single...

In observance of my favorite Canadian national holiday, Canada day (also my birthday) my Mom took to the wild of Joseph Grant county park and captured a butterfly for me to whisper a wish to and set free. Straight biting a scene from her novela, where Jose Maria gifts Violeta with the same. It really is the thought that counts though, she went to such great lengths. She may or may not have knowingly ignored warning signs designating the area as a butterfly sanctuary. (Sshh!)

Here's what the internet tells us...according to a Native American legend because butterflies do not omit sound you can trust they won't run their mouth about your hearts' desire until they reach the Great Spirit in the sky. In gratitude of you giving the butterfly it's freedom your wish is granted.

I'm still waiting on it.

A parade! I get to see a victory parade tomorrow! Not since Shaq's rendition of Rob Base & Easy Rock's It Takes Two and mormon Mark "Mad Dog" Madsen's bilingual declarations of three-peats and "cua-tro" have I been witness to one of those. Yeee!

I almost felt bad after wins throughout the playoffs. I mean, really ABC? Were all the heart breaking stories during halftime necessary? And it's always the opposing team's #1 fans that have the hard luck or inspirational story. In the w.conference finals we had uplifting Nicholas with spina bifida and that touching b-roll footage of his friendship with loveable giant Mutumbo. There was little Ryan, whose love for the Orlando Magic brought him out of his selective mutism. Then belting out the national anthem each night, a darling autistic 7 year old named Gina Marie. At some point, I think I was resigned to the fact that it wouldn't be so bad if LA lost. Stupid, right? Now I just figure, Orlando has Dwight Howard, and those kids are little...they'll see a championship. I'm gonna enjoy it now because looting and keeping Ariza vs Odom is bringing me down.

When I was little, I toiled the earth at a non-profit arts organization OR as my friend (then co-worker) Elena maintains, "we cleaned the bathrooms at MACLA. " Althooouuughh, towards the end of our term, once we had traversed up the career rungs, we delegated volunteers or coaxed friends into that type of drudgery. So that meant we only sometimes moonlighted as janitors. All that aside my time at MACLA was precious and I'll forever have a memory box up-top my closet shelf with pictures of us together and dried flowers pressed between my diary pages. The place holds a very special cramped place in my heart. For that reason, I donate to their art auction every year. Usually I just unload an old piece that I've been compulsively hoarding but this time they requested one of my pan dulce embroideries. I got to stitching on a new one, it's vinyl size.

It's time for Dodger baseball! Or nearly time, 1hrs 44mins 3 seconds and counting...

My best friend and her husband are not sports aficionados. Having no loyalty to any one sports team, I feel it's my responsibility to steer little Isis in the right direction before geography (unless the A's move to SJ) or negligence (on the part of masochist Giants fans) have their way. Besides, Belén does OWN a Dodgers jacket , and there was the time that she went to a ball game up in SF and thought the Dodgers were "hotter". That pretty much equates to Belen being a non-practicing Dodgers fanatic, so it makes her offspring of the same ilk.

To be fair, we had her feel out both Dodgers and Giants colors respectively...

Aww super cute and a smart cookie. That footage wasn't even doctored. Belen & Mona didn't have to make good on threats of giving her a little pinch or hair pull. She spat on and was miserable in orange and black all on her own. The pedos, also real. Do you like the manny wig I crafted?

I made it out to the last spring training game of the season yesterday. Unlike the rest of the Dodger team that stayed back in preparation for opening day. Booo, no Manny, Russey, Raffy, Blake or O Dog. Good eats and plenty of unmerited BOLDNESS from vagiants fans thinking all bad because their regular line up edged out essentially the triple A LA squad and a wet behind the ears newly designated 5th starter, James McDonald. Lindblom was impressive, 4IP, 2 H, 3 SO, 1BB.

Sports blog warning. I don't care none. Lil Wayne blogs about sports all the time. If it's good enough for Weazy F. Baby its good enough for me. Last night was a super lopsided affair in Mexican National sports.

The soccer scrimmage was only a friendly one, booooo. Where's this team when it counts? Stakes is high, WERE high in Mexico City for Group B SURVIVAL in the World Baseball Classic. The classic has been awesome. Great upsets, HUGE upsets. The Dominican Republic bounced by the Netherlands? Team Italy booting the Canucks? Venezuela winning Group C over the USA all stars (I can't stand 2/3 of that team). Crazy. Mexico seemed destined for the same whack fate at the hands of a baby Australian team that dealt them a humiliating 17-7 mercy rule loss in their first meeting. Confident off their win, the Aussies were already looking past the elimination match-up with Mexico, considering it a minor hurdle, quoted as looking forward to face the Cubans again for top position of the group. Mexico had other plans, plans to vindicate their squad in front of the home crowd. And that they did, ending the match in the 6th inning by way of the slaughter rule. Australia goes home, moded. Mexico, humbled, claims their ticket to San Diego for second round play in the tourney and faces Cuba for the top slot of the group tonight.

I've always loved Karim Garcia since his days in Dodger blue to the trouble he was on east coast. But I've never loved him more than last night. He went 4-4 wtih 2 jonrones and 4 RBIs. That explains being dubbed the "Latino Bambino", it might also have something to do with his ample waistline. Shaoooo! It should be no secret to you that, as Tina Fey says, I like my men like my peanut butter: chunky. There's all kinds of chunky in the brown lineup. I like it.

Hope you had a good one. I did! Lakers win. Found out the versatility of my cousin Little, he does an uncanny Morrissey and Chente croon...SOBER even. Pero se chiveo al grabar. And even though my brother jokingly said "if it's not my Dodgers jacket, I don't want it" uggghhhhh... I overlooked it and STILL gave him an autographed boxing glove signed by Ricardo "Finito" Lopez. Probably my favorite gift I gave this year, that and the morenito "lamb-haired" cabbage patch kid named Jesse Craig, I got for baby Isis.

A couple of months ago Alonso of XOCHICO hit me up after discovering we had ESP with our work. Check it. And he recently sent me a care package full of coin purses, a keychain and rear view mirror danglin' conchas. My best friend of best friends, amiga del alma Baby Belén was visited by the stork in a super secret, silent ~~Scientology~~ birth a week ago. I stress the SECRET part because Belén waited 3 months to tell everyone she was knocked up and last week "going out for dinner" was really going to Kaiser. What jerks. I don't even care none because I didn't want to see her box, let alone something coming out of it. It's cool, that's why I have an imagination, this is how I picture it going down. Belen, correct me if I'm wrong.

I visited with the little one this week and she's pretty much my favorite thing right now. Vieras que chula, la niña. You'll have to take my word for it because secretive Belén doesn't want her baby girl joining online communities. The baby was asleep on the job for most of my visit. All I wanted to do was sit there and smell her neck and feel her farts on my arms but noooo.

Sooo before she was Isis, she was baptized "french fry" and remained so until her birth because no one knew if she was an innie or an outtie. I crafted this double sided smile now, cry later plush french fry (or block of cheese?) for her.

These knit CortezESES were inspired by Gary Garay's cardboard Cortez and Belén's chola phase (she didn't really gang bang, only part time, or as much as a 7th grader could, you know in between school bells). For reasons that are none of your business, on most days Belén donned a majestic black cotton jersey trench coat (not Goth. That came later) with flocked white letters spelling out "Garcia" in old english arched across her back and a pair of black nike cortez. Now Isis will do the same, once she fits them and once high tube socks don't slip off her.

But you can't really grow up and be a chola Isis, unless it's of the Bolivian wrestling type.

My God dog Ozo is also another good reason to come around. Here he is breaking in his burger that I bought him, while the rest of us had real food, Huaraches that my Mom made.

Welcome baby Isis, I'm your Tia Mitsy. I'm not as embarrassing as Auntie Bec, less of a talker than your Aunt Tree, not as hilarious and inappropriate as Aunt "T aka beauty" and less into club hits than Tia Peaches. I'm the one you can come to for help with dioramas/art projects, Spanish homework and the one that will take you to Dodger games.

I was given a pair of budgies. At first I thought they were males, so I named them accordingly- Lord Quas & Prince Paul. Then I was told they were ladies. So I decided to name them Fat Donna ("Raising Victor Vargas" reference) and Queenie!! ("Crooklyn" reference). My Mom doesn't like their names. Saying I named them "dona" (donut) and "weenie". . . implying I'm a pervert. She didn't do the hand motion but I know what she was getting at.

But I usually just refer to them as"...tambien ellas, las niñas" in my best Dios Eolo voice.

Yeaaaah!!! Dousing people with alcoholic and homogenized beverages! The Dodgers are NL West division champs, so they get to cut to the front of the line on this post. First something so EPIC... "The Big Blue Wrecking Crew" made up of members of the 81' World series champion Dodgers....Steve Yeager, Rick Monday, Jerry Reuss, Jay Johnstone performing on Solid Gold. Wait for it, or skip ahead to the 3:40 minute mark.

So maybe the Dodgers are not the champions of the WORLD but they are the best of the mediocre division but I don't care none, even this feat looked bleak after that 8 game losing streak at the end of August. There was so much that had to go terribly wrong before it could go right. After sooo many injuries (losing Furcal, HUGE), tanking of Jones, Schmidt playing cheerleader again, Penny's apathy...and then a bright light with the arrival of a veteran 3rd baseman Blake, great rookie surprise DeWitt, and Ethier proving what a gamer he is. It really has been a team effort. Hands down though, THE defining moment of the season... the rental of Manny Ramirez. That put a stop to my continual cursing of Ned Coletti's name. Alright, 3 games left before the anxiety starts up again. Now LA can phone it in against the Giants, much like they did against the D'backs... trying to spoil shit. Shoot. Whatever your faces, who else has Ozomatli and Slim kid Tre singing about their teams?

You've probably caught on to my stratagem of leading in with something art related to reel you and then hit you with what ultimately REALLY matters :) - sports or the day-to-day of "Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso". I do feel guilty, sometimes, inundating you, devout readers (party of 3) but you have to take the good with the bad. :) Or get on with it and just scroll scroll.

My brother has been thinking all bad ever since his SEASON tickets arrived. You know football season is upon us when he's missing work and walking around with a Raider lanyard holding his ticket around his neck-flashing it in my face. Ughhh. After this video, I think I will have exhausted all my favorite teams' abashing musical debuts. But being just minutes away from the Raiders season opener, I felt it was necessary to share and commit to this season by way of an impromptu internet machine tail gate. Let's begin..

And one more thing on the sports front. You know I was sweating the weekend series against the D'backs, especially with the rotation serving up both Haren and Webb. I atttribute this weekend's sweep to the new tradition of playing Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' '" sometime after the 7th inning stretch. Hahah, I think they play it whether we're trailing or not. Anyway, that's the key. Let's hope LA stays on top for longer than 2 days.

That's a detail of my latest embroidery. I promise it's the last, or maybe the penultimate. :) I bite all my pan dulce styles from El Bueno Gusto #1, on King road, it's my favorite panaderia. I stress the #1 because I can't vouch for #2. Although they're only a couple of miles away, they're worlds apart- #2 is all multifaceted, it boasts a panaderia, taqueria and they sell mariscos. #1 is more punk rock, just pan, although they are known to sell delicious pre-made saran wrapped tortas that are usually gone well before noon. It's small, no-frills, hand painted signs inside and an outdated cake theme binder. I was going to screencap the locale for you but Google maps is racist and didn't survey the East side proper. ;) I Google map street view everything! Don't give me your address cause I'll streetview it, no shame in my game- I'll do it. Anyway, it has a clear sign and it's the one sandwiched in between some car audio/phone retailer and a dulceria (that has also remained a constant in the otherwise revolving door of neighboring businesses.) El Buen Gusto's cakes are good too! I ordered my friend's bachelorette cake there a few years ago. Old girl taking the order didn't so much as flinch when I said I wanted it to read "You can't turn a ho into a housewife"...see, no judgment. Then again, I think she only spoke spanish. I like how whackadoodle the scale of the spilt wine glass is in relation to the newlyweds and wine bottle. Yes, I said "whackadoodle" like that cracked out raver Suede from Project Runway. I hate that guy but every time he says it, my side hurts.

However I predict he'll do some soccer dribbling with the beach balls thrown out into the field and if he tries his palms of fury as he did to Youkilis face, I imagine Jeff Kent would be the encore. He'll be wearing number 99? Who wants to wager that Jay Z's "99 Problems" will be referenced in national sports headlines at some point in these next two months? Good or bad. Or I wonder what his at bat music will be?

I'll miss Andy LaRoche, he had some hard luck injuries and hasn't had a decent shot at third. I'm sure he'll fair well and at least he'll be with his big brother over in Pittsburg manning opposite corners.

I still geek out on all the MLB all star festivities, stop judging. But while I was on my 2 day tv binger, watching cracked out Hamilton's anticlimactic final round and the 15 innings- I caught a movie trailer for a film that represents everything I stand for. :) No, it wasn't Step Brothers but that shit looks awesome too. So it's a baseball film, based on a true story, about Mexicans, about Mexican underdogs (wait, that's redundant) AND Cheech is in it? Needless to say once I saw the clip, the googling and wikipedia-ing 5k was underway. It's actually a really great story. Here's the synopsis or if you don't like words get the scoop in the making of video. Check the second video to see the where are they now.

CANADA DAY

The first leg of my birthday was spent partying with the kids at Carlos Queso. This was two days prior to my bona fide b-day but because kids don't concern themselves with days of the week or particulars, for all intents and purposes it was July 1st. I engaged in all the birthday practices-pizza and tokens, presents and cake. The cake wasn't planned, again, not my real birth date but try telling that to Marco who will turn all of 4 in a couple of months. He felt gypped and someone was gonna hear about it. "What are you waiting for guys?!? Don't worry Tia Mitsy, we'll get you a birthday cake! Lets get money from Nino." So, upon Marco's thoughtfulness or sweet tooth, he and I took a trip to get my OWN cake. Things got sadder when I had to tell homeboy at BR to ice the cake with my OWN name. I paid with cash but should have used my ATM, so that he too could be in on the cruel joke that Marco put me up to. :) Also, I want it noted that my lil nephews not only blew out my candle(s) essentially stealing my birthday wish, but also got to lick the action figures clean (Venom and Spidey-thats what they were playing with) and even did the mordida. They also had a great time "helping" open MY presents. In other words, they punked me for all fun parts-watch when their birthday rolls around, watch.
Yeaaaaahhhhh presents! I got this rad Lasonic ghetto blaster ipod dock/radio. It does all kinds of things I ain't figured out yet but it has a remote and it's my new favorite thing. My brother got me some Dodger stuff, including big headed Russell Martin and Saito to add to my collection.

My favorite present arrived later that week..tickets to see the Dodgers in San Francisco. Best seats ever, right by the visitors dugout behind the commissioners box. They ended up losing that game, but snatched the series. I think I'm a jinx. Whenever I go to that ballpark, they lose. Probably cause I'm too busy eating garlic fries and forget to do the sign of the cross. LA's lack of offense made pobreZITO's pitching look good. How do we lose to the Giants cheapest pitcher and take two against their aces? Ugghh. But it was really fun and I was hexa close, close enough to determine the texture of each players hair. Yeah, I'm creepy.

Larry King was there, he's a big Dodger fan and probably the only fan alive that knew them as the Trolley dodgers. I swear to you, he is the physical manifestation of Mr. Burns. It's crazy. This is his posterior alongside Brad "Centavo" Penny.

Remember I told you my Mom was a big autograph seeker? Well, of course being just mere feet away from her favorite boys in blue, it should come as no surprise to you that she hounded the roster for their John Hancock. She was pretty successful but still has her eyes set on getting more of the infield and the pen. Personally, I don't like breaking the fourth wall- I think I'm scared of finding out people I admire will turn out to be cockholes and/or short. :) We've dubbed each player with a nickname but I had to remind my Mom those are only to be used in privacy. Here's who she got... Andre "Baby Boy" Ethier, James "Looney Tunes" Loney, Andruw "Gordo" Jones, Chad "Nalgas" Billingsley, Blake "BlackDeWhite" DeWitt, Luis "Maza, Maza que mas aplauda" Maza, Matt "Mateo" Kemp and Manny Mota. She now loves all the outfield (including Jones...she wants the fans to cut him some slack, ignore his average because he's really "simpatico" and "sonriente") any player that didn't "sign" are "sangrones." She had a cute moment with closer Takashi Saito where she called out to him while he stretched his hammies and showed him her shirt, #44, his number. He laughed.

And since then, check out what LA has done. They've come close to 2 perfect-no hitters, (Kuroda into the 8th, Lowe into the 7th) and between those two gem starts...Billingsley had a no hitter for 4 innings before he completely fell apart. :(

I love watching boxing and soccer with him because he's always so animated. I miss the days we'd carpool to work together and listen to oldies. I admire the confidence in his broken English and his ability to drive 10+ hours overnight and still party with some birria once we arrive. He doesn't even get mad when we make up different nick names for him. :)

This morning while internetting, I came across a bulletin on the space. The subject line pulled me in, "Mexican Artists in the Bay Area", so I followed the link to an article on today's front page of the SF Chronicle. I read it out of mere interest and was surprised to read this whole SENTENCE. :)

My favorite part is "San Jose based" yeeeaahhh! Ricardo says it's finally a legit write up cause people have to PAY for the Chronicle. :D I just think it's funny how I found my way to it. She likes spray painting things gold, silver or ivory.

Loves her some rooty-tooty fresh n' fruity from the ihop (pan-cay howse as she calls it)

She always gives me the heads up on junk put out on curbs and/or helps look for junk to paint on from the segunda.

She takes measurements (quite accurate ones) with her hands.

She enjoys crucigramas (crossword puzzles) and sopa de letras (word searches) and when gets stuck on an answer asks me to look it up "en el inter-net".

My Mom is an autograph seeker-she has an autograph book even. She's very proud of her autographs and pictures of various cast members from different seasons of La Academia (Mexico's equivalent of American Idol) as well as Pepe & Don Antonio Aguilar, famous telenovela actors, Dodger's owner Frank McCourt, Tigres of the North and Blue Demon Jr. There's more and she'll feel shortchanged when I show her this and finds out I left someone off the list.

Last but not least, I love when she pretends to be the "Cha Cha" (maid) when telemarketers call for her. "Es que ahorrita no se encuentra la Señora de la casa"

She's so great and little. I love all 5ft of her.

P.S: She recently learned how to text message and is thinking all bad.

Baseball is only a week away!!

I can only hope the 2008 Dodgers channel an eighth of the winning spirit that the squad committed onto video8 back in ’87 (Wait- 87 was a bad year but you wouldn’t even know that from the resolve & heart in their step) Orel Hershiser gets the MVP for his considerably on-tempo body roll throughout and an honorable mention goes out to Ed Begely Jr for his cameo. Don’t let the pit stains on those satin jackets, and the jheri juice from Mariano Duncan and Pedro Guerrero’s perm be in vain. Let this footage set the tone, go Dodgers! :)

In theme with resplendent retro music video clinics put on by pro athletes, here’s one I hope pushes los Lakers through the last leg of this season. But I say, "Just say YES" to HGH for the Lakers injured big men- Gasol, Ariza, Mihm and Bynum. How gangster is Pat Riley in this? Watch for the chimuelo at the 2:27 mark. I can’t stand when kids go around looking like little vampires.

From time to time, I get updates/follow ups from people that have purchased my work. They'll attach nice pictures of my pieces in their new home. It's kinda cool.

Until now! Eww. The photo is hilarious, and obviously a rouse. It's only funny because I know how much the Giants suck a big fat pork sword. Its my fault, I did ask that all Giant trappings not be within 10 ft of my painting. Whatever, at least the buyer- despite his obvious lack in SPORTS taste seems like a nice guy. Besides Catalina Creel roots for no one. The only thing she'd like about the San Francisco Gnats is the fact that they've collectively turned on their now unemployed superstar castaway Barry Bonds. I knew no one liked him, not even his teammates.

It's hella throwback Dodgers this spring training. Tommy Lasorda will be managing the split squad in FL for a couple of games while Joe Torre and the rest of the crew are out in China for the exhibition games against the Pads. Other throw back news, Chan Ho Park is a non roster invitee this year.

Lakers get Paul Gasol AND rid themselves of blundering ham-hands Kwame Brown?!? BEST DEAL EVER!! I'll miss Crittenton-he never did get enough playing time. Who knows how good MARC Gasol will be once he comes up and giving up the first round picks, you never know what effect that'll have BUT it seems a small price to pay for Gasol's PAU-erful grizzly beard. Yeah, get used to the constant play on words, it's my new favorite thing. :) He will probably be making his debut in purple and gold later today versus the Nets. Can't wait.

Artist and writer Timothy Buckwalter wrote up a piece about my stuff in the East Bay Monthly, click the article to view it on his blog with workable links otherwise read the screen cap below. I hear there's a mention about the show in the Piedmont Post but I haven't picked up a copy. Woooo!! Creating a buzz in all the respected news sources. Look for me in the PennySaver next and other complimentary leaflets, circulars and high school gazettes. ;)

EDIT*** Here's the Piedmont Post mention in electronic form. Correction-the catch phrase is "tururu" and I wouldn't exactly say I was raised among a "family of fine artists" but thats cool, I guess. :)

I also came across this review of the All Star Hustlaz show over at the KQED website. Blah, Blah blah skip to the part about me..."...Mitsy's Dos de Tres Caidas, a precious yet biting mixed media wall piece shaped like a tiny boxing ring. It was decorated with a Pacifico beer label, a furry Sasquatch, and glitter. I freaking love glitter!" Who doesn't appreciate glitter? I don't however like how it's now on everything I own.

Noooooooo!!! Seems big baby Bynum is out for 8 weeks!!! Ughhh, right when I got League pass too now I'll HAVE TO witness the Lakers flop. The two oafs next to him better step it up in his absence or like I stated in previous posts...yet another disappointing season. Stupid subluxation of his patella, whatever that means. I guess 7 straight wins is where the streak ends. Last night they played into over time against the SONICS!! No Me-he-co for the holidays this year. I don't like it. Never ever ever plan an art show for right after the holidays, ever. It'll ruin your life. You'll end up postponing Christmas only to find yourself on the matrix with a paper plate full of ambrosia salad and apple cider trolling for youtube videos to create a air castle of a holiday you feel you missed out on. At least there's basketball.
